Book Recommendations for Change & Transformation – from Kim Burris, Holistic Counselor
Hey there. Here’s a short and sweet list of some amazing books that have the potential to radically support you on your healing journey. Whether you are exploring your relationship dynamics, looking for parenting support, walking the path of conscious evolution or contemplating a more integrated, mind-body approach to your health and wellness I hope and trust you will find something inspiring and supportive in this list.
Relationships
Explore the nature of romantic relationships, why we get triggered or feel threatened by seemingly insignificant things (it’s not ‘nothing’ there’s a great reason for it!) and gain valuable support for your marriage/committed relationship. This book is humorous, easy to read and POWERFUL. Highly recommend for sorting through the challenging parts of your relationship and cultivating gratitude for the opportunity to grow and evolve together. We truly are wired for love and this book explains why.
Spirituality
Whatever Arises Love That by Matt Kahn
Some of the most inspiring books along my spiritual journey include include A Return to Love, Conversations with God, and The Art of Power. I recently listened to the audio book version of Matt Kahn’s Whatever Arises Love That and HOLY HECK was my heart blown wide open and my soul stirred. I’m not a big audio book person but I HIGHLY recommend listening to him read this book because this is so much more than a book of spiritual musings. His words are a transmission and a deep offering of love practices that unravel and reconnect the heart to source. So beautiful!
Mind-Body Healing
Kelly Brogan is a holistic psychiatrist who no longer prescribes psychiatric medications. This inspiring and beautiful book shows us a road through anxiety, depression and other challenging mind-body dis-eases with a holistic approach to healing. Her protocol is research backed, scientifically sound and the book offers inspiring examples of radical change, fierce spirituality and truth telling.
Motherhood/Parenting
How to Talk So Little Kids Will Listen by Joanna Faber & Julie King
If you have a child between the ages of 2-7 and have ever wondered if you’re the ‘only one’ struggling (or questioning your own sanity from time to time) please just PICK UP THIS BOOK. As a mom of 2 I laughed and cried my way through this book, deeply relieved and armed with an incredible arsenal of usable tools for not just surviving day to day with my kiddos but experiencing more laughter, less tears, more compassion and more FUN.
Addiction/Health
This Naked Mind by Annie Grace
Part memoir, part neuroscience, part shining a light on social expectations and myths about drinking. This book is a great thought provoker for those of you interested in exploring the role of alcohol in your life. There’s a lot more to think about than either ‘I’m an ‘alcoholic’ or else ‘I don’t have a problem.’ Be brave, dive in.

I’m SO excited for you to dive into these books and experience some really nourishing food for thought, guidance, wisdom and love. Cheers to 2020! Let’s do this!
From my heart to yours,
Kim
